SMC solenoid valve SY5120-5LZD-01 and SY5A34

Today, I will briefly introduce the relevant knowledge of pneumatic directional control valves for the convenience of myself and customers.

Mainly introduce SMC's two solenoid valves SY5120-5LZD-01 and SY5A34.

Basic information

• Brand: SMC (a well-known Japanese pneumatic component manufacturer)

• Type: Solenoid valve

• Main function: It controls the flow direction, switch or flow of compressed air through electrical signals, and is the core control component in the pneumatic system

• Working medium: Compressed air (suitable for industrial automation gas circuit)

• Drive mode: The electromagnetic coil is powered on and driven, and it relies on spring reset when the power is off

Model introduction

SY5120-5LZD-01

• Series: SY5120 is the standard model of SMC's 5-way pilot solenoid valve.

• Function: 5/2-way, that is, it has 1 air inlet (P), 2 working ports (A/B), and 2 exhaust ports (R/S). Two air circuit states (such as cylinder extension/retraction) can be switched by electrical signals.

• Features: Moderate flow, fast response, high reliability, widely used in cylinder direction control.

SY5A34

• Series: SY5A series is SMC's compact 5-way valve.

• Function: It is a 5/2-way valve.

• Features:

• Compact design: The volume is significantly smaller than SY5120, suitable for space-constrained occasions.

• Pipe diameter: -34 corresponds to 1/8" or 1/4" pipe diameter (please refer to the manual for details).

• High cost performance: Commonly used in small cylinders or low flow demand scenarios.

Summary

• SY5120 —— Standard general type, with balanced flow and stability, suitable for most automation scenarios.

• SY5A34 —— Compact and economical, meeting the needs of space-constrained or small equipment.

Both of them accurately switch the gas path through electrical signals, playing a key role in industrial production lines, testing equipment, and even medical/veterinary equipment.

• Industrial Automation: Control cylinders (driving robotic arms, fixtures, conveyor belt baffles, etc.), pneumatic fixtures, valve switches, etc.

Key points for performance and selection

• Response time: ≤ milliseconds, achieving high-speed switching.

• Flow rate (Cv value): Determines the valve air supply capacity (affects the cylinder speed), SY5120 is usually greater than SY5A34.

• Pressure range: Typical working pressure 0.15 - 0.7 MPa.

• Seal material: NBR rubber standard, optional high temperature/chemical corrosion resistant material.

• Protection level: IP65 (dustproof and waterproof), suitable for industrial environments.

• Electrical compatibility: DC24V/AC220V optional, need to match the control system.
